"Tender Is The Night" by THP Orchestra - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The 1949 Samuel Goldwyn Classic, “Our Very Own” with Ann Blyth and Farley Granger is blended with disco classic, “Tender Is The Night” by THP Orchestra to create a romantic interlude in this video mix.

The track from the 1978 LP by the same name is given life by producers Ian Guenther & Willi Morrison – a beautiful dance ballad with The Duncan Sisters (Phyllis and Helen Duncan) weaving magic with their alluring vocals. I have always held both this song and the film close to my heart. This being the perfect time to bring the two together – and dedicate to my partner, Ken.

At the age of 3 I can remember seeing this film at a theatre across the street from where I lived and this opening scene stuck in my mind as one of the most horrifying clips ever!

Now it is total camp, but fun!

PLOT: Beauty parlor owner in Los Angeles begins dreaming of a handsome but potentially dangerous man, and soon feels she can't discern her dreams from reality. I loved the whole ambiance of this picture--the fakey Universal Studio sets, the kitschy opening about the world of dreams and nightmares, the wedding sequence with the mannequins, Barbara Stanwyck in a perpetual dream state. Actually, Stanwyck is far too sane as an actress (and as a woman) to be playing this hysterical part, and Robert Taylor as her friend looks ghastly. Still, it's rather an eerie confection by the originator of "Psycho", engrossing and yet not one to be taken too seriously. It's camp, but at least it's the classy variety of camp.

"Airport" by Marc Harris - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Steve Benson (alias Dieter Bohlen from Modern Talking) produced Marc Harris’ “Airport” in 1981 – a small drama about a lover awaiting his connection to a partner via airplane.

Some great guitars and synthesizers paint an exciting adventure of love – and completing the story are scenes from the 1975 disaster epic, “Airport 1975” from Universal Pictures. Stars Karen Black, Charlton Heston, George Kennedy and a parade of stars including Gloria Swanson and singer, Helen Reddy. I have used some of the key scenes from the film to complete a disco-fied disaster short.

The film was apart of the disaster period of the mid-seventies – “Airport 1975” was parodied in the 1979 film “Airplane” and for more reasons than one. It still outlines excitement and adventure no matter how ridiculous it may appear.

The track by Marc Harris appeared on Ariola Records and is now a classic high energy disco track.
