HALLOWEEN REISSUE: "They Came At Night" by Patrick Cowley - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

HALLOWEEN REISSUE:"They Came At Night" by Patrick Cowley - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Patrick Cowley marked a period in dance music that will live on throughout disco history. His 1982 project being his finale tribute to the techno-disco arena - "Mind Warp" is an LP featuring the track "They Came At Night".

The song is an excursion into the sci-fi would of invaders from outer space that slowly move onto out world. It is the perfect soundtrack for the 1978 remake "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright and Leonard Nimoy. The original "Body Snatchers" was released in 1956 and features Kevin McCarthy and also in the cameo the remake.

The film was directed by Philip Kaufman

The concept makes perfect sense to me in that any life from outer space would not be in a form that we are traditional stories and beliefs.

Silly 70’s: “Swap Meet” (1979) Part 7 (Finale) - Disco group Hemlock provide soundtrack

“Swap Meet” (1979) Part 7 (Finale)
This is a crazy and pointless film - just sex and laughs. It does outline the end of the 70’s teen film genre. I believe they were attempted to make “Swap Meet” like “Car Wash”?

A brainless teen comedy, pepped up with a few moderate erotic scenes. The plot: Roy is jealous of Sigi, who attracts Nancy's attention, and has two clumsy guys demolish Sigi's father's T-Burn classic. For the repair of the car, Sigi desperately needs $250 until his father returns next weekend. He and his friends try to earn it on the swap meet.

BOOGIE'S DO-IT YOURSELF DOGGIE DOOR!

Home Depot won't seeing us for a Doggie Door - but perhaps a screen door?

Film Snips: "The Rose" (1979) - Sylvester plays Diana Ross

The Bette Midler film "The Rose" from 1979 - this scene is a drag club that welcomes "The Rose" back long after her fame and is serenaded by non-other than the late disco singer, Sylvester - in drag, playing Diana Ross.

Great scene!

"Knockout" by Margie Joseph - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Margie Joseph has been recording since 1969 - her first single "One More Chance". She made her way to the 80's with a solo LP titled "Knockout" - a big funk/dance hit in clubs the song is still alive in the minds and feet of many dance music connoisseurs.

I have take her 1982 dance track and paired it up with Barbra Streisand and Ryan O' Neil (together again - since "What's Up Doc") in "The Main Event" - the story of a perfume magnate who loses her company and success finding all that is let is a contract for a boxer - which she purchased as a tax write off. Thus, Ryan O' Neil enters.

The film had it's own disco soundtrack - but I have added a twist with Margie Joseph's dance number - a few "punches" and connections.

The film was directed by Howard Zieff

HALLOWEEN REISSUE: “R.O.E.” by Scarecrow – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

New Beat dance music was generated in Belgium and became apart of the late 80’s dance genre. Many producers with electronic knowledge and wizardry began creating dance music with a darker and ambient feel.

Scarecrow was a project produced by Talla 2XLC who had his hands in many New Beat projects including many remixes. His masterful sound was an industrial werk with ominous and underground sound.

I have taken the terrifying 1979 film, “The Amityville Horror” with James Brolin, Margot Kidder and Rod Steiger to create a small treat for Halloween 2008. The dark side of Disco Video Mix with a left-field track.

"R.O.E." was released in 1989 and was the B-side to Scarecrow's "Black Door"

Just another Friday nite...

“Hey look, I gotta go. My ‘lounging minutes’ are almost used up, and I think I just heard someone fixin’ dinner.”

REISSUE: "Fear" by Easy Going - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

"Fear" was an Italian production with an innovative feel for dance floors during its release. The robotic feel along with the vocoder generated lead vocals create an electro feel and hypnotic transition. I have taken the LP version and a 1973 horror film, "Torso" -- directed by Sergio Martino and created a new meaning to the song. The film "Torso" was a Carlo Ponti production and was added to the slasher film list of the 70's. More eroticism was added to utilize the cast including Suzy Kendall ("To Sir, With Love") and many other Italian beauties (men and women) in this psycho-sexual thriller. It also contains one of the most squeamish moments of suspense at the end of the film which I used a climax for the video.

“We’re Friends Again” by Sharon Redd (Video Shot 1988 - San Diego, Ca)

“We’re Friends Again” by Sharon Redd (Video Shot 1988 - San Diego, Ca)

A video shot at the Children’s Park/Balboa in San Diego - this track is from Sharon’s album “Redd Hott”

An impromptu shoot on a Saturday afternoon - more fun and laughs than anything.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHARON :)

SHARON REDD - BEHIND THE SCENES

Footage from an amateur video shoot with Sharon Redd in 1986 - on her visit to San Diego I talked her into having some fun with my video cam. This is the end of the DVD for the shoot.

These are behind the scenes shots after shooting videos for “Beat The Street”, “Love Insurance”, and “We’re Friends Again” - this was an after noon of having fun and sharing time. Sharon was of the most incredible singers, performers and human beings. I miss her very much.

Happy Birthday Sharon!

Disco diva Sharon Redd would be celebrating a very special day today - she passed May 1,1992 but her music and energy still lives on.

I celebrate this day in thanks for all that this wonderful woman as given to the world. And a special thanks to her mother, Katie Perry for being such an incredible woman.

Blind Faith: “Religulous” (2008) Part 10 (FINALE) - Bill Maher exposes many myths

“Religulous” (2008) - Part 10 (FINALE)

A film that I feel is important to see regardless of what religion (if any) you follow. In these times where many ideas are followed without merit I find this film very interesting and full of mindful thinking.

FROM IMDb:
Bill Maher interviews some of religion's oddest adherents. Muslims, Jews and Christians of many kinds pass before his jaundiced eye. Maher goes to a Creationist Museum in Kentucky, which shows that dinosaurs and people lived at the same time 5000 years ago. He talks to truckers at a Truckers' Chapel. (Sign outside: "Jesus love you.") He goes to a theme park called Holy Land in Florida. He speaks to a rabbi in league with Holocaust deniers. He talks to a Muslim musician who preaches hatred of Jews. Maher finds the unlikeliest of believers and, in a certain Vatican priest, he even finds an unlikely skeptic.
