60's Terror: "Berserk" (1967) - Part 10

"Berserk" (1967) - Part 10

I don't even believe my parents took me to a drive in to see this when I was 6 years old! It was scary back then - but now I just watch Joan Crawford - that role was pretty scary :)

Monica Rivers (Joan Crawford), is the owner and ringmaster of a traveling circus and who'll stop at nothing to draw bigger audiences. When a series of mysterious murders begins to occur and some of her performers die gruesomely, her profits soar. She hires high-wire walker Frank Hawkins (Ty Hardin), impressed by the handsome and muscular young man. They begin an affair which arouses her previous lover Durando's (Michael Gough) jealousy. When Durando is found dead shortly afterward, the other performers begin to take alarm, as a mysterious killer is obviously loose in their midst. Many suspect Monica herself of the killings, especially Matilda (Diana Dors), who has set her sights on Monica's new lover. At this point, Monica's unruly, sixteen-year-old daughter Angela (Judy Geeson), is expelled from school for being incorrigible and Monica is forced to take her into the circus, allowing her to become the partner of knife-thrower Gustavo (Peter Burton). Meanwhile, the dead bodies continue to pile up...

Starring Joan Crawford, Ty Hardin, Diana Dors, Michael Gough, Judy Geeson, Robert Hardy and Geoffrey Keen

"Spacer" by Sheila and B. Devotion - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Annie Chancel is Sheila - her first LP in 1977, “Love me Baby” made her an international sensation in discotheques across the world. Her 1979 LP “Spacer” is produced by none other than Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers of Chic. From start to finish the project has Chic written all over it. A great taste of funk, pop, and disco.

“Spacer” is a certified disco classic that continues to bring back fond memories of a dance era. It is truly a fabulous number for Sheila and B. Devotion.

I have taken the 1980 action adventure film, “Flash Gordon” starring Sam J. Jones, Melody Anderson, Max von Sydow and Topol and created a backdrop that is somewhat fitting for an hero. The film did not bring continued success for the lead stars, but has a colorful adventure for viewers.

The film was directed by Mike Hodges

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to Rick and Dean in Australia - disco energy that never quits!

The Dinner Bell Rings!

"Sphinx Medley" by Sphinx - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The king of the Eurodisco sound in the 1970's is Alec R. Costandinos - his compositions and productions are the highest in standards and execution.

His 1977 project "Sphinx" labeled as a studio group by the same name is a double movement featuring biblical charaters - I have removed the theme and used parts of the beautiful instrumentals with the powerful Ambrosian choruses to create "Sphinx Medley" - it is paired with the 1961 adventures film "Colossus Of Rhodes" the story of Athenian war hero Darios.

Segements and images from the film present a worthy drama for the backdrop of this Disco Video Mix of revolt and war as well as some beautiful costumes, scenery and men!

The film stars Rory Calhoun, Lea Massari, Georges Marchal, Conrado San Martín and Ángel Aranda - it was directed by Sergio Leone

"You Make It Hard To Love You" by Abbe - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Abbe is Abbe Lane - a singer and actress whom was married to band leader, Xavier Cugat in the 1950's. Abbe was described as "the swingingest sexpot in show business" during her career as a nightclub singer. At the end of the disco boom, Abbe released a disco project called "Rainbows" (which features her disco cover of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow") produced by Norman B. Ratner and assisted with guitars, bass and synthesizers by Bob McGilpin ("Superstar").

"You Make It Hard To Love You" was the first single from this album and scored quite well on dance floors - it is more of a hardcore classic. There are echoes of the finest pieces of what made disco dance music sharp on definitive.

I have taken Joan Crawford's big 1945 film, "Mildred Pierce" and syncopated to to this Disco Video Mix - as appropriate for a few characters in the film, who are difficult to love. It also stars Jack Carson, and Zachary Scott. Directed by Michael Curtiz.

“Some Like It Hot” by Power Station - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Power Station was Robert Palmer, John Taylor, Tony Thompson and Andy Taylor - their 1985 dance hit, “Some Like It Hot” is given the Disco Video Mix treatment. The track was produced by Bernard Edwards (Chic) and has some of the meanest drum beats ever.

“Some Like It Hot” is blended with the Billy Wilder film of the title starring none other than Marilyn Monroe - also Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon. The film was released in 1959 and was one of the campiest comedies around.

This Disco Video Mix is dedicated to our friend, Loulou in The Netherlands.

70's Horror: "Tourist Trap" (1979) - Part 10

"Tourist Trap" (1979) - Part 10

This is a tour de force of horror! It may take you to a claustrophobic place where you are looking for a bit of sanity. It revolves around a roadside tourist trap where a group of kids become lured to after their car breaks down. Chuck Connors (yes, "The Rifle Man") is the host and a strange one at that! I won't spoil anything, if you dare to see the exhibits...

Snuggle up on your computer chair - this is a spooky one!

Starring Chuck Connors, Jocelyn Jones, Jon Van Ness, Robin Sherwood, Tanya Roberts, Dawn Jeffory and Keith McDermott
