The masterpiece by Alec R. Costandinos is blended with the 1956 film version of "Notre Dame de Paris" - the beautiful and lush strings and funky disco bass outline the story with drama and emotion.
The film stars Gina Lollobrigida, Anthony Quinn and Jean Danet - it was directed by Jean Delannoy.

REISSUE: “Extraterrestrial Lover” by Sylvia Love - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Sylvia Love (Chantal Pierre) has 2 places in disco history – “Instant Love” and “Extraterrestrial Lover”. Produced by Trevor Vallis in 1979, these tracks exude the energy that disco music is all about. Flowing and lovely, both tracks have a sensual feel with both Sylvia’s vocals and Trevor’s keyboards and arrangements that are surely tailored as for a dance floor at 5 AM.
This style of disco music has always held a special place in my world and dance floor – weaving an imaginary place and theme with pulsating energy lightly accenting a make-believe journey.
Using the 1984 John Carpenter film, “Starman” as the eye candy here is a perfect match for “Extraterrestrial Lover”. The story outlines a starship from outer space, which crash lands to avoid an attack from a military aircraft, and a visitor is introduced to a young woman. After taking on the characteristics of her deceased husband through DNA from a locket of hair she becomes fearful at first, but then realizes the special event will bring her heart closer again to the memory of her loved one.
Note: I can remember a visitor to my booth back in 1984 while playing this Sylvia’s track and saying that the song was a take off of “E.T.” – when actually this song was released in 1979. Long before our little extraterrestrial friend found Reese's Pieces.

REISSUE: “Supernature” by Cerrone – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Cerrone’s 1977 tour de force, “Supernature” is still considered one of the finest electronic disco compositions. It is.
With his mastermind and talented musicians, Cerrone created an album, which marked the coming of disco in its perfect form. This track has been reworked and re-recorded, but never with the same impact as the original.
I have taken the song and paired it with the 1977-film “Island Of Dr. Moreau” starring Burt Lancaster, Michael York, Nigel, Richard Basehart and Barbara Carrera. The theme is obviously in the same vein as being the demise of mans idea for controlling nature.
This video mix touches closely at a time when technology allows us to see how nature exists along side of us – and not for us.

REISSUE: "They Came At Night" by Patrick Cowley - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Patrick Cowley marked a period in dance music that will live on throughout disco history. His 1982 project being his finale tribute to the techno-disco arena - "Mind Warp" is an LP featuring the track "They Came At Night".
The song is an excursion into the sci-fi would of invaders from outer space that slowly move onto out world. It is the perfect soundtrack for the 1978 remake "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers" starring Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Jeff Goldblum, Veronica Cartwright and Leonard Nimoy. The original "Body Snatchers" was released in 1956 and features Kevin McCarthy and also in the cameo the remake.
The film was directed by Philip Kaufman
The concept makes perfect sense to me in that any life from outer space would not be in a form that we are traditional stories and beliefs.

“For Your Love” by Chilly – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Chilly is a German band with a big disco hit from 1978 – “For Your Love” – a dance cover of The Yardbirds rock hit from 1966. I always felt the disco version gave the song the drama that it needed. Produced by Bernt Mohrle (Cherry Laine) and given a disco orchestra that lasts forever.
I have taken the mood for the song and have given it a darker edge on “love” and “obsession” – using scenes from the 1983 film, “Star 80” – starring Mariel Hemingway and Eric Roberts – based on the life and finale tragedy of Playboy centerfold actress Dorothy Stratten. This play focuses on the obsessed and eventual breaking of Eric Roberts’s character without going into gory detail.
Chilly’s “For You Love” is one of my top 20 disco track favorites – after thinking about the haunting keyboards in the song – I decided to use it in this eerie Disco Video Mix.
The film was directed by Bob Fosse

REISSUE: "Somewhere" by Vicki Shepard - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Vicki Shepard created a high energy classic in 1989 with a disco cover of Stephen Sondheim's "Somewhere" -- this track manages to resurface in clubs even today. The original release marked a return to high energy basics with a mix by Steven Von Blau. Vocals by Vicki also helped to keep this track alive since it's release - she is a very talented lady. Taking many of the beautiful visions from the 1998 Polygram film, "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra I have piece together these wonderful masterpieces.
Hoping to create an outline for the "gift of life" - this Video Mix is dedicated to the energy that keeps our lives happy and knowing that in our minds we are all where we need to be.

REISSUE: “Sunset People” by Donna Summer - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Donna Summer’s “Sunset People” is one of those disco tracks that makes you feel as though something is happening – it caused quite a stir on dance floors. This classic mover is in the tradition of Giorgio Moroder’s progressive keyboard and sequencer sound of the 70’s. After hearing this track – it is no wonder that he is the “Godfather Of Electronic Disco”.
Placing Gloria Swanson along with this dynamite track was an idea I got when a good friend, Charles mentioned that “Sunset Boulevard” would be great to use in a Video Mix. So Hollywood and Sunset Boulevard unite once again in this edit.

REISSUE: “Strive” by Gloria Gaynor – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
From her 1984 LP, “I Am Gloria” comes “Strive” – a very high energy and upbeat dance track. Produced by Joel Diamond (Silver Blue, The Invitations, Lew Kirton, Joel Diamond Experience, Jack Black, etc.) and featured keyboards by Marcus Barone (“Savage Lover” by The Ring”).
Gloria gives another outstanding performance with a great message tagged along.
“A Chorus Line” –The Movie is featured as the visual for this Disco Video Mix – released in 1985 – it is the film version of the 12 times Tony Award winning Broadway play which ran for 6,137 performances. The late Michael Bennett (“Dreamgirls”) who passed in 1987 choreographed the original production.
Richard Attenborough directs the film.
The energy is in the hopes and dreams of these performers.

REISSUE: "Magic Man" by Heart - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
"Magic Man" was the big boost for rock music in 1976 -- I also believe that this track had one of the most groovin' bass lines. Be sure to check out my ReStructure Mix -- CLICK HERE
I have taken the classic rock track produced by Mike Flicker and matched up the action from the 1978 horror film, "The Manitou" with Tony Curtis, Stella Stevens and Susan Strasberg -- the motion picture was a leftover horror film from "The Exorcist" genre. The story being of a woman who grows a tumor on her neck that is actually an Indian medicine man soon to be reborn. It was quite a hoot -- including the climatic ending featuring a special effects light show.
This video mix is dedicated to the sound of 70's rock and Ann and Nancy Wilson.
SPECIAL NOTE: Ann Sothern appears in a cameo in "The Manitou" and a few segments of this video mix.
Thanks to Trey in FL for nudging me here and there and keeping me aware :)

REISSUE: "Candy Man" by Mary Jane Girls - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
In 1983, the master of punk-funk, Mr. Rick James gave us his female interpretation of dance: The Mary Jane Girls.
This funky ensemble bridged the gap between funk and dance rhythms with their first LP simply titled, “Mary Jane Girls” – one of the first singles, “Candy Man” is a delicious blend of James’ soulful and funky style.
Now one of the earliest “old-school” classics this track is paired with scenes from David L. Wolper’s 1971 classic, “Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson and Peter Ostrum, which is was based on the 1964 novel, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” by Roald Dahl.

NEW CERRONE! "Laisser Toucher 2011" - Take a trip!
www.cerrone.net
Cerrone is multi-profile musician with an extraordinary fate. Drummer, composer, producer
and creator of huge shows, he sold over 30 millions copies worldwide, won a dozen of
awards including 5 US awards and the Best producer of the year Golden Globe. Crowned ‘king
of the dancefloors’, he is one of the originators of ‘disco music’ also known throughout the years as dance music, techno, house, groove, garage and electro.
Acknowledged by the music professionals as being one of the most influent artists of the 70’s
CERRONE helped spreading French music’s aura all over the world, whilst being a reference for the ‘French touch‘, especially in the U.S.A.
Today, CERRONE ’s music is still resonating on the dancefloors, being it a sure value for DJs
and making the ‘nightclubbers’ dance all over the world. Covered or sampled, the ‘CERRONE
sound’ is more than ever up-to-date. From Europe to U.S.A. and Asia to Australia, his footprint
over a number of generations is proven by his numerous collaborations with international artists such as Daft Punk, Modjo, Bob Sinclar, Lionel Richie, Paul McCartney, Pink, Groove Armada…and many more.
Most impressive is CERRONE ’s savoir-faire in conceiving huge and spectacular concerts which gathered hundreds of thousands people worldwide : the 2005 Dance Party Live à Versailles, a huge concert in front of the famous Château de Versailles with more than 100,000 party-goers ;the Hysteria Party à l’Olympia in 2003, which took place at Paris’ mythical concert hall and was transformed for the occasion into the largest dancefloor of Paris ; the Los Angeles Millennium Celebration in 2000, that was called by the city of Los Angeles and for which Cerrone was commissioned to perform the second Millennium Night Show on the west Hollywood hills.
The secret of such a long career lies in CERRONE’s ability to break through the barriers of
generations.
REISSUE: "White Rabbit" by David Diebold & Kim Cataluna - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Walt Disney's 1951 cartoon classic "Alice In Wonderland" was refreshed in Jefferson Airplane's 1967 "White Rabbit" - it was said that Grace Slick (lead vocalist of this version) stated it was intended as a slap towards parents who read their children such stories in which the main character uses several drug-like substances in order to change herself.
Aside form all of the deep thinking of how, when and why - they did create a rock classic.
In 1990 San Francisco dance artist, David Diebold recorded the track again and gave it a new dance floor feel. I have taken the LP version and placed visuals from the Disney classic to bring to life the field of imagination from the story and the fascination we have held onto for years with stories as such.
