REISSUE: “Soft Emotion” by Azoto – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Azoto is a project created by Italian disco producer Celso Valli – his contributions also include Macho, Passengers, Tantra and Peter Jacques Band. His work is regarded as innovative arrangements which helped to shape the Italo-disco scene of the early 80s.
“Soft Emotion” is from the 1979 LP “Disco Fizz” – one of the most beautifully crafted pieces of disco from the time period.
This Disco Video Mix takes the 1995 film remake of “The Brady Bunch Movie” and places the images and retro-laughs in a segment centered on Jan’s in security of her older sister (“Marsha! Marsha! Marsha!). It also gives us another glimpse of that fabulous talent show performance!

“I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Diana Ross took the 80s as the top “disco treat” in 1980 with her album titled “Diana” – with a production by disco duo, Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers of Chic. The surprise was that the transformation from disco to a funky-“Chic” sound was quite effective and lasting.
“I’m Coming Out” is the second hit from the project and is not only a marker for the Diva of Motown to announce her stance as a lasting performer and artist but also a personal anthem for many gay and lesbian pride celebrations for years following its club success.
I have taken the 1997 comedy titled “In & Out” starring Kevin Kline, Tom Selleck and Debbie Reynolds. The film was inspired by Tom Hank’s speech during a 1994 Oscar win for his performance in “Philadelphia”. Both move together with the celebratory mood and also the wacky scenes of our main character’s struggle to accept himself, as is.

REISSUE: "Airport" by Marc Harris - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Steve Benson (alias Dieter Bohlen from Modern Talking) produced Marc Harris' "Airport" in 1981 -- a small drama about a lover awaiting his connection to a partner via airplane.
Some great guitars and synthesizers paint an exciting adventure of love -- and completing the story are scenes from the 1975 disaster epic, "Airport 1975" from Universal Pictures. Stars Karen Black, Charlton Heston, George Kennedy and a parade of stars including Gloria Swanson and singer, Helen Reddy. I have used some of the key scenes from the film to complete a disco-fied disaster short.
The film was apart of the disaster period of the mid-seventies -- "Airport 1975" was parodied in the 1979 film "Airplane" and for more reasons than one. It still outlines excitement and adventure no matter how ridiculous it may appear.
The track by Marc Harris appeared on Ariola Records and is now a classic high energy disco track.

“Lady Marmalade” by Labelle – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Labelle is Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash and Non Hendryx – a funk/soul female trio who began recording in the early 70s. Their 1974 album “Nightbirds” made history with the single “Lady Marmalade” which became a soul/pop hit and an everlasting echo of the funk in disco music’s early stages. Produced by Allen Toussaint.
I have taken the song and blended it in a Disco Video Mix with the 1963 romantic comedy, “Irma la Deuce” starring Shirley McLaine and Jack Lemmon. The setting of Hotel Casanova and the lane of working girls in France lift the song for a stage for pieces of light drama and a few dances scenes!

VIDEO: "Radio Action" by Claudja Barry
Claudja Barry needs some "Radio Action" - I know she will get some "You Tube" and "Facebook" action!
A great song from 1981 - Claudja's "Made In Hong Kong" album - produced by Jurgen Korduletsch
NOTE: Video was recorded from my television with antenna reception back in 1982 so please pardon the bad quality.
REISSUE: "Boxer" by Twilight - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Twilight is an Italian disco ensemble - Massimo Zuccaroli, Fabio Sinigaglia and Claudio Zuccaroli. Their 1983 single "Boxer" is an example of the Italo-disco formula, which helped to set the stage for a new form of disco music.
The track emphasizes a dedication to succeed with the dream of self-discovery through the sport of "boxing". The track has a nice aura of early morning flavor along with a pop-rock edge. It works well with its sharp production.
The 1976 film "Rocky" starring Sylvester Stallone, Talia Shire, Burgess Meredith and Carl Weathers has some images that fit well, not only with the theme but the determination of our hero. I have combined several of the well-known excerpts from the film along with our disco track.

A mix done for a friend who I hung out with while working at The Spike (Los Angeles) in 1984 – Mr. Lance Wise
NOTE: The subject of this mix is only a concept for a dark-audio theme – I do not support ‘suicide’ in any respects.
REISSUE: “I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Kiss is an American hard-rock band - Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss. Their album “Dynasty” from 1979 contained one of the bands disco crossover hits, “I Was Made For Loving You” – produced by Vince Poncia.
I have taken the 12” disco single of the song and paired it with the 1985 teen-comedy, “Weird Science” starring Anthony Michael Hall, Ilan Mitchell-Smith and Kelly LeBrock. Two high school nerds create a virtual and perfect woman on their home computer – and turn their world upside down with her powers of memory manipulation and reality warping.

REISSUE: “I Have A Destiny” by Denise Mc Cann – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Denise Mc Cann released her second album in 1979 titled “I Have A Destiny” which showcased the disco concept of the late seventies as well as Denise’s unique v
ocal. The project was produced by Guy Sobell.
I have taken the title track and mixed the visuals from the Moly Shannon character Mary Katherine Gallagher from SNL in “Superstar – Dare To Dream” – the story of an aspiring and nerdy Catholic schoolgirl who is constantly dreaming of stardom takes the disco track and gives it a face.
The film was directed by Bruce McCulloch

REISSUE: “Just Can’t Help Believing” by Boys Town Gang – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Boys Town Gang is a San Francisco based disco group founded and produced by the late Bill Motley. The first album release featured the fabulous Cynthia Manley creating her rendition of Diana Ross classics “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Remember Me” as a medley which brought the dance community alive again for more years of dancing and hunger for disco music.
“Just Can’t Help Believing” is a cover of the 1970 B.J. Thomas classic ballad –done in the sweet high energy style that Motley was so wonderful to build. The album featured vocals by Jackson Moore and once again answered to the disco connoisseurs dream.
I have taken the song along with the 1977 Neil Simon comedy/romance film, “The Goodbye Girl” starring Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason – a story that focuses on the romance between a struggling actor and a heartbroken dancer who can only look forward to “goodbyes” in relationships thanks to her past. It works well with the heart strings and romance and gives the disco track a new identity.

“Green Light” by Cory Daye – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Cory Daye is known for her classic performances with Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band – “Cherchez La Femme” and “I’ll Play The Fool” from 1976 – during the creative growth of disco music. Along with producers Sandy Linzer and August Darnell (Machine) the stage was set for Cory to record her own solo album in 1979 – “ Cory and Me”.
The first big disco hit “Pow Wow” was followed appropriately by the flip side of the big 12” single, “Green Light”. It is the sound of a lighter edge of big-band along with the familiar theme of making the man come to momma.
I have taken “Green Light” and blended it with the 1984 film, “Swing Shift” with Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell – and although the theme of the film is much different from the disco hit – I used parts of the big-band era and the heroine’s dilemma to match the disco beats and drama

REISSUE: “Jungle DJ” by Kikrokos – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Euro-disco was the crowning glory for disco music in the late seventies. Artists like Cerrone, Alec R. Costandinos, Boris Midney and Alan Hackshaw brought much of their talent and dedicated their focus on large disco ensembles performing as orchestras.
Kikrokos is a studio conglomeration of musicians produced by Andre Allet, Michel Elmosnino and Patrick Sesti included Slim Pezin (Voyage). The project was recorded at Studio Des Dames in Paris. Very similar to Cerrone’s standards and an even bet that his earlier projects were a big influence.
“Jungle DJ And Dirty Kate” is the LP and the title cut “Jungle DJ” is blended thoroughly with Walt Disney’s 1997 film, “George Of The Jungle” starring Brendan Fraser and Leslie Mann. The film based on 1967 animated television series by the same name.
The track “Jungle DJ” is a beautiful disco number – this being the 12” disco single wonderfully remixed by Jim Burgess. It works very well with “George Of The Jungle” since the premise is similar.

REISSUE: "Dolce Vita" by Ryan Paris -- Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Ryan Paris is Fabio Roscioli -- an Italian singer and actor who gave the early 80s' Italo-disco scene a few sprinkles of magic with tracks like "Dolce Vita" and "Fall I
n Love". "Dolce Vita" is one of the standards of Italo-disco and remains a charming piece of dance music.
In this Disco Video Mix I have chosen "Dolce Vita" along with the classic 1960 film by Federico Fellini, "La Dolce Vita" starring Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg. Meaning "the sweet life" it tells the story of a journalist struggling to find himself amongst the crazy lifestyle of his celebrity girlfriend.
The backdrop of visuals works well with the feel of the disco track and is a Disco Video Mix that pulls dance and art together.
