REISSUE: “Love Story” by Andy Williams – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Andy Williams takes the theme “Love Story” from the film along with disco producer extraordinaire, Bob Esty and creates a memorable and emotional dance experience. The 12” single was released in 1979 and became a club sensation for those who desired the symphonic and artistic power of disco.

I have taken the track and paired it with the original film from 1970 – “Love Story” starring Ryan O’ Neal and Ali MacGraw – a story of love, understanding and finale tragedy. It moves well with the dance version along with some help.

The film was directed by Arthur Hiller

ENOJADOtv: "Un Hombre, Dos Mujeres"

REISSUE: "Jungle Boogie" by Kool and The Gang - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

From the 1973 LP "Wild And Peaceful" by Kool and The Gang comes the soul track, "Jungle Boogie". A funky excursion into a wild safari with funky guitar riffs and chants on the beat. This one was a biggie for the formulation of soulful elements and a groove.

This track is considered an old-school classic and continues to make retro dance floors catch the funk with a hand full of soul.

I have taken scenes from the 1967 Walt Disney film, "Jungle Book" into the Disco Mix arena and blended the two to create a light farce of dancing monkeys, cool tigers and our hero, Mowgli.

The film was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman

REISSUE: “Tequila” by Bo Boss – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Bo Boss is Paolo Minioni, Massimilano Di Carlo and Roberto Masala – a trio of Italian writers and producers who created a few very progressive dance landmarks in Italo-disco history. Their studio project Bo Boss covers The Champs oldies-favorite “Tequila” in a robotic-like approach and gives the song a whole new essence.

I have taken the 1985 comedy-adventure film “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure” starring Paul Reubens and singer, E.G. Daily and pasted the famous “tequila-dance” scenes along with the new beat of the classic. It gives Pee-Wee a whole new spin on the disco version and also an opportunity to see this uproarious movie once again.

The film was directed by Tim Burton

REISSUE: "Sky High" by Jigsaw - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Jigsaw is an English pop band who found success in 1975 with their dynamite single, "Sky High" - the song was originally from a film titled "The Dragon Flies" (later titled "The Man From Hong Kong"). It made Top UK 10 that year.

"Sky High" is one of the earliest pop disco tracks I can remember with the early elements of swirling strings and orchestrations that give disco it's reputation. It has always has been a favorite of mine.

I have taken the 1979 comedy-spoof, "Airplane!" and placed piece of the hilarious scenes overt this classic dance track - the results are quite funny. The film was directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker - it was a take-off of the 70's disaster film genre focusing on the "Airport" series.

The film stars Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves

REISSUE: “Woman Ad-Lib” by L.A.X. – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

L.A.X. is a disco band produced by Jean Kluger and Ralph Benatar – the LP “Under Cover Lover” featured a track titled “Woman Ad-Lib” (which was released in France as “A Woman That’s Hot”. The song is a sexy tribute the the shapely beauty of femme and the rolling bass of disco in the late 70s.

I have taken the track and paired it with the1956 film “The Girl Can’t Help It” starring Jayne Mansfield and Tom Ewll – using a few scenes of the dynamite and sexy lead star I am created an outline for the disco track. Quite a figure and outline – for any mix!

The film was directed by Frank Tashlin

REISSUE: "Phantom Of The Opera" by Harajuku - Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

From the 1974 Brian DePalma film "Phantom Of The Paradise" is footage used for the 1992 Harajuku techno/dance track "Phantom Of The Opera".

A match made for each others dramatic sound and visuals. The horror-thriller/musical film was a strange but great rock interpretation of the classic "Phantom" story. And now brought together with some of the most stunning scenes.

The Harajuku track was released on Dance Street Records and produced by The Really Useful Group -- it is a cover of the Andrew Lloyd Webber piece.

REISSUE: "Cutie Pie" by Lime - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Lime released "Take The Love" in 1986 - it is the sixth LP for Lime from a 1981 through 1986. Denis and Denyse LaPage set a standard in 80's high energy and disco scene. Their simplified, yet effective keyboard arrangements created many nights of non-stop dancing.

"Cutie Pie" is a single from the LP which was a flip side to the 12" single "Did You See That Girl?" - it was a big hit in my club and has a very catchy vocal riff.]

I have taken the 1956 now-cult classic film, "The Bad Seed" with Nancy Kelly and Patty McCormick as used the sweet on the surface child as the realm for "Cutie Pie". It is a bit demented in it's turnover message - but I feel hilarious and strange.

The film was directed by Mervyn LeRoy

REISSUE: “Don’t Stop The Music” by Fussy Cussy – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Fussy Cissy is Cussy Nicodemo – their first release in 1976 was a single titled “Disco Kings”. This began their dedication to creating dance music. It was a Canadian production in 1981 where Denis LePage stepped in to arrange a single titled “Don’t Stop The Music” – it was a heyday for LePage during his very successful band, Lime. The single had quite a resemblance to a Lime track and made the song even more irresistible to dance floors.

I have taken the 1984 Herbert Ross film “Footloose” starring Kevin Bacon, Lori Singer and John Lithgow and pulled the two together to create some excitement. The dance sequences in the film provide a great energy and great fun to the track.

REISSUE: “(Carmen) Danger In Her Eyes” by Deborah Sasson & MCL – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Deborah Sasson along with MCL (Micro Chip League) producers Alexander Henninger and Ken Taylor recreate the tragedy of the 1845 novella Carmen and then 1875 opera. The 1989 techno track has the emphasis of a sledgehammer pounding out the drama until the last breath of our heroine’s saga.

I have taken the 1954 musical adaption by Otto Preminger, “Carmen Jones” which translates the film set during World War II and gives the vixen played by Dorothy Dandridge a take on the opera. The film also stars Harry Belafonte and Pearl Bailey.

This gem from 1986 is a track that shines even now in the same light. Rose Laurens brought to life this beautiful love song brings art to life.

I have taken the 1690 film The World Of Suzie Wong starring William Holden and Nancy Kwan and paired the two in a new outline for a love from different corners of the world. And though the ideas and lives may differ, they find a way of discovering a feeling deeper below the surface.

American Love was produced by Jean-Pierre Goussaud.

SATURDAY SHOW: "The Facts of Life": The Lost Episode / All-Male Cast Recreates '80s Sitcom

This was a hilarious take on the 80s show, "Facts Of Life" - with an all-male cast recreating a hilarious "lost" episode with the girls - in new form!

It was one of the funniest shows I have seen on stage in a long time.

Think, "The Facts Of Life" meets "The Best Little Whore House In Texas"!!!!

From the producers of the award-winning Mommie Queerest comes The Facts of Life: The Lost Episode. This musical comedy is an adults-only send-up of the popular '80s sitcom, featuring an all-male cast portraying the girls of Eastland High (plus a special cameo by cousin Geri). In this "lost" episode, Mrs. G's job is in danger when budget cuts loom and the "girls" decide they will do anything - even stoop to prostitution - to save her and their cozy dorm life.

REISSUE: "Native Love (Step by Step)" by Divine - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Disco producer Bobby Orlando brought one of the 70’s most outrageous personalities to the dance floor in 1982 - it was John Waters star, Divine. Since this moment, disco music was worshiped in a whole new way.

“My First Album” was the first release and contained “Native Love (Step by Step)” - an rowdy rap piece with Orlando’s signature keyboards weaving a fierce outline. Many of his projects included a defined disco break style sound - lots of electronics and percussion banging out the choruses. It was accepted immediately and became his trademark.

I have taken the theme from “Native Love (Step by Step)” which was probably influenced by a segment of “I Love Lucy” where the classic vaudevillian routine takes place - with hilarious results. It is used here as well as many other Lucille Ball funny moments.

REISSUE: "Life At The Outpost" by Skatt Bros. - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The Skatt Bros LP “Strange Spirits” was another project produced by Willi Morrison & Ian Guenther (THP Orchestra, Duncan Sisters, American Fade, Shawnye Jackson, Grand Tour, Sticky Fingers, Southern Exposure, Ramming Speed). This LP marked a transition for the duo from hardcore disco sound to a more rock edged dance energy.

“Life At The Outpost” is a track which stood out from the LP as a familiar vocal arrangement similar to Village People – as a matter a fact the band is categorized as the Canadian-straight version of VP. The song is fun and has a lighter side to it – as this Video Mix.

“Blazing Saddles” from 1974 takes the place for our images in this mix – one of Mel Brooks’ most successful comedies. Stars Harvey Korman, Madeline Kahn, Cleavon Little and a sneak peak at Mel himself.

REISSUE: “Masterpiece” by Gazebo – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Gazebo is Paul Mazzolini – an Italian singer/producer marking the 80s with many dance tracks now Italo-disco classics. His 1982 release “Masterpiece” is his first solo single and one of his most memorable. It is one of the innovative productions to bring 80s dance floors into a new period.

The 1950 film “All About Eve” is the cinematic story behind this Disco Video Mix and although it is Broadway and not Hollywood – the story plays out the same. With images of Bette Davis it completes the “masterful” painting.

The film was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz

The funk and disco band that made the 70's feel funky all over again. Producer Randy Muller (formerly of Brass Construction) brought to life a whole new dynasty of disco music with a guitar lickin' sound and new energy.

"First Time Around" is from their first LP simply titled "Skyy" from 1979.

REISSUE: “Jungle DJ” by Kikrokos – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Euro-disco was the crowning glory for disco music in the late seventies. Artists like Cerrone, Alec R. Costandinos, Boris Midney and Alan Hackshaw brought much of their talent and dedicated their focus on large disco ensembles performing as orchestras.

Kikrokos is a studio conglomeration of musicians produced by Andre Allet, Michel Elmosnino and Patrick Sesti included Slim Pezin (Voyage). The project was recorded at Studio Des Dames in Paris. Very similar to Cerrone’s standards and an even bet that his earlier projects were a big influence.

“Jungle DJ And Dirty Kate” is the LP and the title cut “Jungle DJ” is blended thoroughly with Walt Disney’s 1997 film, “George Of The Jungle” starring Brendan Fraser and Leslie Mann. The film based on 1967 animated television series by the same name.

The track “Jungle DJ” is a beautiful disco number – this being the 12” disco single wonderfully remixed by Jim Burgess. It works very well with “George Of The Jungle” since the premise is similar.
