“Bring Me Edelweiss” by Edelweiss – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Edelweiss is Walter Werzowa, Martin Gletschermayer and Martin Forster – in 1988 their single “Bring Me Edelweiss” brought to mind another retro period with their cleaver sampling of ABBA’s “S.O.S.”.

The track did pretty good in house segments of club play and then disappeared pretty fast. It was producer and composed by M.M. Gletschermayer and Walter Werzowa with of course, melody samples from ABBA.

My Disco Video Mix was to bring to mind the power of ABBA and also a concept by my partner, Ken.

"Bolero" by Kebekelektrik - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

“Bolero” is a piece composed by Maurice Ravel for ballet in 1928. In 1977 producers Gino Soccio and Pat Deserio included a synth-based disco version on the debut LP for the studio session. The group titled Kebekelektrik is actually a synonym for “Quebec Electric” - since both producers are from Canada.

The disco version is more of a metaphor for the trance-like feel of electronic disco which began to take over with many new variations in the late 70’s. The LP by Kebekelektrik also contained 2 big dance tracks, “Magic Fly” and “Ware Dance” - the project was mixed by the legendary Tom Moulton.

I have taken scenes from Blake Edwards’ 1979 comedy, “10” starring Dudley Moore and Bo Derek - the film outlines a middle aged man searching through is mid-life crisis and his sexual fantasies and reality. This is more of an homage to Bo Derek and the scenes which made her a drop shadow for sexuality in the early 80’s.

"Bad Romance" (Parody by Shirley Vine)

A parody of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" - not for the lactose intolerant. :)

"The Visitors" by ABBA - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

In 1980, ABBA released "Super Trooper" which contained now classic dance tracks, "Lay All Your Love On Me" and "Super Trooper" - it was as if the band was transformed dance floors into an alter to worship another period of grand music.

Without a pause, "The Visitors" was released in 1981 creating more excitement than ever. The title track is a diamond and continues to leave dancers restless and faithful. It relays several stories - one that I placed below the images and scenes from the 1977 film by Steven Spielberg, "Close Encounters of The Third Kind". The film is a look at the strong possibility of "visitors" from another world connecting with earth. Makes better sense to me than most traditional theories.

This Disco Video Mix outlines the films glorious special effects and main characters - for the many years of entertainment and talents he has shared, I dedicate this Mix to Mr. Spielberg and also ABBA - the band with no end.

“Woman Obsessed” (1959)

A film I saw at the age of 7 that touched me and gave me a good lesson on understanding. Susan Hayward is a tough farm housewife who learns allot about life from Stephen Boyd along with her timid son. This film runs a little slow, with lots of drama but has a well ending.

ReStructure Mix Update - 12/16/09 - "The Power Of Love" - ReStructure Mix by Glenn Rivera - Astaire

ReStructure Mix Update - 12/16/09 - "The Power Of Love" - ReStructure Mix by Glenn Rivera - Astaire

Astaire is an 80's studio band with a list of high energy tracks that would make any dance floor shake with excitement.

It was the re-birth of disco music in an electronic/industrial feel. Complete with flowing beauty and powerful divas.

"The Power Of Love" is ReStructured here with a  whole new emphasis placed of the magic of the track itself. I have looped and chopped this track into an extended dessert for any dance floor.

"Sky High" by Jigsaw - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

Jigsaw is an English pop band who found success in 1975 with their dynamite single, "Sky High" - the song was originally from a film titled "The Dragon Flies" (later titled "The Man From Hong Kong"). It made Top UK 10 that year.

"Sky High" is one of the earliest pop disco tracks I can remember with the early elements of swirling strings and orchestrations that give disco it's reputation. It has always has been a favorite of mine.

I have taken the 1979 comedy-spoof, "Airplane!" and placed piece of the hilarious scenes overt this classic dance track - the results are quite funny. The film was directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker - it was a take-off of the 70's disaster film genre focusing on the "Airport" series.

The film stars Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges and Peter Graves

"From Here To Eternity" by Giorgio - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera

The ultimate electronic recording by Giorgio Moroder remains one of he most progressive and innovative projects. Moroder's magic is thoroughly felt in the sounds encompassed in the full album.

This Disco Video Mix pairs the title track "From Here To Eternity" with the 1953 drama by the same title. Using only images and flashes of the romance and involvement of the characters in the film. Looping and fades keep the themes synchronized.

The film "From Here To Eternity" stars Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Cliff, Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed and took 8 Oscars including Best Picture.

Action and Suspense Films: "The Last Voyage" (1960) - Part 8

"The Last Voyage" - (1960)

A film I saw in the early 70's as a kid and always pulled my interest due to the excitement created by "The Poseidon Adventture" in 1972 - people in peril, sinking ships, earthquakes, burning skyscrapers were the fade of the time.

The Last Voyage is a 1960 American action-adventure film written and directed by Andrew L. Stone. The screenplay centers on the sinking of an aged ocean liner in the Pacific Ocean following an explosion in the boiler room.

Starring Robert Stack, Dorothy Malone, George Sanders, Edmond O'Brien, Woody Strode, Jack Kruschen and Tammy Marihugh

Directed by Andrew L. Stone
Produced by Andrew L. Stone and Virginia L. Stone

Post dedicated to Loulou of The Netherlands - this suspense should keep you busy for a while :)
