Prop 8 is unconstitutional! Judge Vaughn Walker's federal court decision is an historic milestone in the fight for full equality, but it is only a first step. The right-wing -- led by the National Organization for Marriage and Focus on the Family -- will stop at nothing to delegitimize the decision before it is appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
We can't let them get away with it. That's why we launched "Testimony: Equality on Trial" -- a national year-long campaign to bring the Prop 8 federal trial into the lives of Americans and show them why this decision is the right one -- and why it must be defended.
And it's why we need your help to get the truth out about this trial. With the right-wing already organizing to undermine this historic victory, just as they did in 2008 when the California Supreme Court recognized marriage equality, your support for Testimony: Equality on Trial will help us stay on offense as the trial is appealed all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
That's great news! Thanks Glenn for shared. Andy
ReplyDeleteI hate this why do they threat everyone equal im so glad over here in Holland gay people have the opputunity to marriage.
ReplyDeleteIts indeed great news and the first step is therere thank you Glenn!
Finally some one took the time to read the Constitution before they made a decision instead of listening to HATE FILLED RELIGIOUS fanatics before voting for something they know nothing about. Jesus would be so ashamed of those hate-filled people that fill his churches but do nothing but HATE
ReplyDeleteI want an invite to the wedding!
ReplyDeleteProposition 8 is overturned by a Federal Judge! Here is a small quote from the ruling:
ReplyDelete"Moral disapproval alone is an improper basis on which to deny rights to gay men and lesbians. The evidence shows conclusively that Proposition 8 enacts, without reason, a private moral view that same-sex couples are inferior to opposite-sex couples," Walker wrote.
"Permitting same-sex couples to marry will not affect the number of opposite-sex couples who marry, divorce, cohabit, have children outside of marriage or otherwise affect the stability of opposite-sex marriages." - 9th Circuit District Court Judge Vaughn Walker
