70's Crime and Funk: "Superfly" (1972) - Opening sequence featuring Curtis Mayfield




A crime drama/black exploitation film on the underground world of the 70's drug, cocaine.

Starring Ron O'Neal, Carl Lee and Sheila Frazier

Super Fly is a cocaine dealer who begins to realize that his life will soon end with either prison or his death. He decides to build an escape from the life by making his biggest deal yet, converting the coke to cash and running off to start a new life. The problem is that the Mob does not have a retirement plan and will give him a choice of staying and selling for them or dying if they find out his intentions.

  3. I used to play my sisters copy of her stereo when she was gone - loved this soundtrack. Curtis Mayfield always made funk sound orchestral! Good energy to you, Ron - see you at France Joli next week at Circus Disco!!!
