Loleatta Holloway dies aged 64

Disco singer passes away after a brief illness

Disco singer Loleatta Holloway has died at the age of 64 following a brief illness.

The news of death was announced by her manager Ron Richardson last night (March 21), reports Spinningsoul.com.

The singer was best known for her 1980 hit single 'Love Sensation', a track which was later sampled by UK dance group Blackbox for their 1989 Number One single 'Ride On Time'.

Holloway recorded extensively between 1973 and 1980, producing six studio albums.

Danish pop group Alphabeat paid tribute to, tweeting from Twitter.com/alphabeat: "A great inspiration. R.I.P Loleatta Holloway.

DJ Kissy Sellout did the same, tweeting from Twitter.com/kissysellout "R.I.P. Loleatta Holloway. A rare talent who held such extraordinary importance to the history and influence of house music."
