"The Innocents" (1961) - Part 11 (Finale)
A great suspense and thriller with many scenes that will haunt your mind. This is another afternoon television sitting that gave me the frights as a kid.
The story of a governess trying to understand the unknown power that controls the children she has been hired to care for is terrifying.
Starring Deborah Kerr, Peter Wyngarde, Megs Jenkins, Martin Stephens and Pamela Franklin
Directed by Jack Clayton
This was one hell of a movie i must have this one for my collection of movies so i must go shopping agian lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gleen this movie has such good suspense i loved it it.
Ive read this about the movie:"The Infant Kiss", a song by Kate Bush, from her 1980 album Never for Ever, was inspired by the film.
An audiotrack from this film was sampled into the cursed tape of the 2002 film The Ring.
"O Willow Waly", the song from the film, written by Georges Auric and Paul Dehn and sung on the soundtrack by Isla Cameron, was released in the UK on a Decca single in March, 1962
Thank you Glenn great post, big hug Loulou
Your welcome, Loulou - by the way the novel this movie is based on is called "The Turn Of The Screw" - it is very good. If you enjoy reading suspense - you will love it.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, did you understand the end? Allot of people do not. After Miles dies and she kisses him on the lips - it seems very strange and perverse - that part is the evil leaves Miles' body and possesses her. This is why she does this - it expresses the ending as evil lives on.
It was a very good film version of the movie - lots of spooky scenes. The hide and seek scene where Quint's face approaches her always scared the heck out of me!
It was a great movie i love this sort of suspense i have enjoyed it very much,i have understand the ending in the good way just like you tell, great ending of this movie.
ReplyDeleteThis is gonna be a favorite fron now on thank you Glenn.
